Keep the Faith

by Pastor Sal Termini

Job 23:2-12 (NLT)
"My complaint today is still a bitter one, and I try hard not to groan aloud. [3] If only I knew where to find God, I would go to his throne and talk with him there. [4] I would lay out my case and present my arguments. [5] Then I would listen to his reply and understand what he says to me. [6] Would he merely argue with me in his greatness? No, he would give me a fair hearing. [7] Fair and honest people can reason with him, so I would be acquitted by my Judge.
[8] "I go east, but he is not there. I go west, but I cannot find him. [9] I do not see him in the north, for he is hidden. I turn to the south, but I cannot find him. [10] But he knows where I am going. And when he has tested me like gold in a fire, he will pronounce me innocent.
[11] "For I have stayed in God's paths; I have followed his ways and not turned aside.
[12] I have not departed from his commands but have treasured his word in my heart.

James 1:5-8 (NLT)
If you need wisdom if you want to know what God wants you to do ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. [6] But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. [7] People like that should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. [8] They can't make up their minds. They waver back and forth in everything they do.

1. We will all face trials because we have an enemy called Satan
2. We must not be moved to sin or doubt God or be double minded
3. When we come forth as Gold proved righteous God will deliver me
4. God is in control even if we can’t see Him all power belongs to God

1. We will all face trials. We must always remember God is good and He is not the cause of the evil in the world. Adam and Eve when they sinned gave the devil authority to operate in the earth. Satan and a fallen world is why there is so much trouble in the world. Satan is trying us and tempting us to sin against God and to lose faith. God has given us an antidote for the evil trying to conquer us in this world and it is our faith in God and His word. Faith is the great power in God’s kingdom to give us victory. We must believe God and His word over the lies and deceptions of the enemy.

When we stand in faith God is glorified.
When we stand in faith Satan is defeated
When we keep standing Satan’s authority is diminished
When we stand in faith God is just and will fight for us

2. We must not doubt or sin against God in trials. The devil would love to get us to sin in our affliction. He wants us to feel like God has left us and abandoned us. He wants us to feel as tough God does not care. Satan wants us to murmur to accuse God of being evil. We must keep praising and worshipping God. We must not have expressions of doubt, fear and unbelief. The devil will use our words against us. Our words will release authority to Satan. We admit Satan’s plan is working when we complain. Praise and worship is an expression of faith. There are many in scripture who continued to serve and praise God even in the midst of terrible trial because they knew God is good.

Romans 4:19-22 (KJV)
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb: [20] He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; [21] And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. [22] And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

Abraham was declared righteous and God honored His faith with a miracle. Unrighteousness comes from doubting God will keep His word and His promises.

Hebrews 11:6 (NLT)
So, you see, it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that there is a God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

3. We are proved righteous when we keep standing in trials. The devil arouses the justice of God to defend us when we remain in faith. When we refuse to sin against God the devil loses his right and power to keep us in the trial. Israel spent 40 years going through the same things because they would not act in faith. They doubted God, sinned against Him, murmured and complained that He was evil and so a whole generation died off without receiving the promises God made to them. In the above scripture apostle James tells us the double minded man is unstable in faith and will not receive anything from God. We must believe God and His word if we are going to receive anything from God. Satan wants us to be confused and worried and doubt God’s yes and Amen to our prayer.

4. We must remember God is in control even if we don’t see Him or feel Him. The just shall live by faith.

1 Cor. 10:13 (KJV)
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able when we stand in faith. God is a good and righteous Father. He loves us and wants us to have the victory. God wants to have His will in the earth. God wants us to have dominion in all things. We must stand up against the enemy. The battle is in our minds so renew your mind with the word. Use your shield of faith to quench the fiery darts of the enemy. The battle is not yours it’s the Lord’s. Use your faith to cast down Satan’s thoughts.

2 Cor. 10:5 (NLT)
With these weapons we break down every proud argument that keeps people from knowing God. With these weapons we conquer their rebellious ideas, and we teach them to obey Christ.

Keep praising God Satan hates praise it destroys His morale.

Satan hates praise because it releases God’s power and help.
Satan hates praise it declares him defeated.
Satan hates praise it is our testimony before God and the world God is faithful.
