‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the Inn, people were carousing and thinking of sin.
The Inn was so crowded that no one could hear
The very quiet knock on the door so near.
The couple was tired and she was so young.
Those inside re-sang the song they’d just sung.
And the lady on the donkey and husband so near
Put their hopes on getting a room right here
When the door opened the whole crowd quieted down
As the man asked barely making a sound.
If there’s a room in your inn for me and my wife,
We’d be ever so grateful to be able to stay for the night.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
gave the luster of mid-day to objects below.
When what to the innkeepers eyes should appear
but an angel all bright, by the lady who showed no fear.
He knew in a moment he had to do right.
There’s no room at the Inn and the barn is a sight.
But, it’s warm and cozy, you’ll come to no harm.
A place where the lady will feel no alarm.
Now Angels, Now Shepherds with Joy About.
The Messiah is born – Angels all shout.
For the healthy or sick, for the rich or the poor
Jesus is here…Messiah For all Who will open the door.
