Know this also, that in the last days grievous times will be on us. For men will be self-lovers, money-lovers, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, unyielding, false accusers, without self-control, savage, despisers of good, traitors, reckless, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness, but denying the power of it; even turn away from these. For of these are those who creep into houses and lead captive silly women loaded with sins, led away with different kinds of lusts, ever learning and never able to come to the full knowledge of the truth. -II Timothy 3:1-7
Our country has reached a place of division and decision. Who and what are we going to be, as a nation, in the 21st century? Our nation was almost evenly divided in the last election, and both sides were quite vocal about there positions regarding the issues. Today, the words used to identify and generalize one's beliefs have become pejorative. "Conservative" and "liberal" are terms we use to accuse, mock, or blame an opponent. The homosexual community rejoiced over Cardinal O'Connor's death. Our airwaves are filled with gladiatorial events like wrestling and fighting -- with cruelty not seen since the Roman coliseums. In the audience, our teenagers and young people are watching blood and violence with glee. Our teen idols are near pornographic both in dress and in dance. A television show pits couples against each other by bringing in other attractive adults, tempting the partners to betray one another sexually. Our words to each other are often cruel and inflammatory. Talk show hosts skewer and mock anyone with a different moral point of view than him or her.
Is our next war going to be a cultural war? Will we be a nation divided?
Particularly frightening are the women's groups who have a one-sided agenda without telling the whole story. Many women's groups accuse religious people of being bigots, while "modern" women betray the cause by dehumanizing themselves into nothing more than sex objects on so many TV show and magazine covers. "Reproductive freedom" is the acceptable term now used in place of words like
abortion, and in some religious circles,
murder. Abortion clinics are biding for customers as abortion numbers drop. Do those who consider themselves "pro-choice" realize that many who support the feminist agenda see them only as dollar signs? For the abortionist, it has always been about money -- save a few who actually believe in the cause. The message of liberation has changed, but the pain caused women by the feminist agenda hasn't. Today's talk shows have more abused women on them then ever before. Is men's respect for women dwindling because men see women's sexual liberation as a means to their sexual gratification? TV shows now feature dating couples who admittedly are in the relationship only for the sex. Rest assured -- the next generation of children will be confused, misused, and abused. Women seem to have lost respect for themselves as they fight for equal pay, but will sleep with anybody for attention. The Playboy mansion is the highlight of many lives, but the specter of drug abuse, abortion, suicide, and broken lives is never shown. The right to choose is also greatly abused. Women have the right to choose abstinence, birth control, self-control, self-respect, a marriage relationship, and freedom from disease. In order to promote an agenda, the women who have found the "secret," just don't tell the whole story.
The damage done by Bill Clinton to women is, in my opinion, irreparable. It is prostitution of the highest order. He makes them feel important because their issues "matter," then acts like a sexual predator. Clinton's abuse of the young intern working for him was disgraceful, yet just about every woman in the country defended him as "our president". If this were a man on your job, you would have been outraged and tried to have him fired! The betrayal of his wife and daughter spoke volumes about Americans to the rest of the world as we supported our president -- anything goes for money. Could it be that women want Hillary for president, and any abuse endured or immorality committed is justified as long as she wins? Do we want our agenda passed so badly that we're willing to allow the end to justify the means? If we truly believe in a cause, let us have people with integrity representing it, because those who don't will eventually betray it. We justify human evil with laws and call it "freedom". If women really want respect, let them defend the life of the unborn and reject selfishness as a means to an end. If women want respect, let them be good wives and mothers. If women want respect and equal pay, let them not dress seductively and then cry sexual harassment. If you're a woman and want respect, don't be promiscuous and men will honor you.
Our president, while maintaining a good economy and lining our pockets, has betrayed us in the White House bedrooms for money. It is as though shame is a four-letter word. He panders to self-interest groups, yet allows our most sensitive secrets to slip into the hands of Chinese communists. A song once said, "there are none so blind that cannot see." Pornographic web sites multiply into huge multi-billion dollar conglomerates at the expense of women, and yet women are strangely silent. Be careful...free speech cuts both ways. What we permit can kill us. Freedom must be understood under a careful standard of good and evil. No one believes Hitler had freedom of speech, or the freedom to start a war and to kill. Be careful...free speech is not only for the perverse and the powerful. Free speech is also for those who are religious, and those with conservative morals. Yet when those with dissenting views voice their opinion, they're called bigots. We cringe at homophobic terms or the "n" word, but we'll freely label a religious person a bigot. Every person who is religious and through that religion forsaken an unsavory past, is brought before a tribunal and deemed unfit for public office -- while sexual addiction rules the White House. We can't say we've never failed, but at least we know what is wrong and what is right.
We are base, uncivil, cruel, perverted, and energized to defend those who are. What are our priorities? If allowed to continue, situational ethics will eventually destroy the glue that has held this country together for over 200 years. It has always been our common belief in the Judeo-Christian ethic that has kept us together as a nation.
