The Wellness Club

The Spiritual Aspects of Wellness
Evolution theorizes that life came into existence through an explosion. Yet, we witness life as it germinates and, budding, pushes through our world. The sun warms us as it rises in the east and sets in the west. The pull of the earth allows for our very existence on this planet. And, in all of this, we find security in the order revolving around us.
In our heart of hearts, we can acknowledge the handprint of a loving purposeful Creator orchestrating this great Symphony called Life. In Genesis, the first book of the Bible, the command "Light Be" is still being carried out today as the faithful soldier rising early every morning, and finding rest over the horizon.
...and God created man.
Order surges throughout the created world, into every form of life. Based upon this knowledge, The Wellness Club has evolved.
The Wellness Club recognizes that the same detail of beauty that was spoken into the Universe when it was created, is breathed into every Human Being. The Word of God that has the power to keep this world in existence filters down into our individual lives. We were created in three part harmony: Spirit, Soul, and Body. To flow in this God-intended rhythm, life's fine-tuning must be found in the Word of God. It heals, delivers, and restores us back to our Creator in perfect pitch.
"Dear Friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well." 3 John 1:2
Week 1"YOU ARE HERE"
But, Why?
Most of us would like to live a long life. Over the years, we struggle with eating the right foods, exercising, and in general, living a healthy lifestyle. Our fight is against the never-ending march of time bringing on the inevitable wear and tear of aging. We're in a bad dream, desperately trying to outrun the pursuer, Time.
Spiritual Wellness is the process of discovering meaning and purpose in life...according to the World Health Organization. It seems too overwhelming to think of the "purpose of life." We, like ostriches, can pull our heads out of the sand just long enough to stay fit, socialize and not really delve into the bottomless issues of life for a time anyway but God has other plans. Our Spiritual Wellness is not complete without purpose. Like a skilled fisherman His hook deep inside of us gently tugs at our hearts. We can resist and fight, but in His mercy and patience He continues to draw. Then the crisis arises and with powerful strokes we return to Him as the words once sung by Peggy Lee continue to ring in our ear, "Is that all there is, my friend, to life?" and He answers the cry of our heart:
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days, when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me." Jeremiah 29:11
Spiritual Wellness becomes a Total Experience, when reconnected to our Creator.
Dear Friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 John 1:2
Week 2"Top of the Morning"
Remember this song?
"It's a beautiful morning. Ahhhh, I think I'll go outside for a while, and just smile..."
Isn't morning great?
It's Refreshing! Revitalizing! Rejuvenating!
That famous saying "Early to bed and early to rise" seems to have discovered a little secret to God's blessings of Health, Wealth, and Wisdom.
God told Moses to rise early in the morning to see His glory. The morning run speaks for new life and rebirth as Dr. George Sheehan put it. Joshua fought the battle of Jericho, and at dawn the walls came tumbling down. David, a man after God's own heart, sought to find Him early in the morning.
In his recording of the old hymn, "Morning Has Broken," Cat Stevens gives praise for the gift of God's songbirds at the break of day.
Morning is where it's happening!
"Wake up singing Hallelujah!" says Rev. T.D. Jakes. "Breathe in the fresh, and expel the stale air of your past."
Awaken each morning in partnership with God. Give Him the freshest, most excellent fruit of your day, and arise to a vital life, pulsating with "God Expectations."
Dear Friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 John 1:2
Week 3"Beauty that's Deeper than Skin"
How many mornings do you wake up, look in the mirror, and recoil in horror? "Ugh!" Believe it or not, we were created in God's image.
You've come a long ways away, Baby!
As scary a thought as that might be, think about this: If God were to look in the mirror, He would see YOU!
And, to Him, "You look Mahvelous!" He sees everything He has created as excellent.
One of God's greatest Commandments is: "Love Thy Neighbor as Thyself."
We are commanded to love ourselves. It's not a choice. Each of us is a lover of nature in one form or another. We need to appreciate the beauty of God's creation in each of us the same way we marvel at the wonders of nature.
As you allow your spirit to be led by God's Holy Spirit, He will produce His fruit in you: "Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and faithfulness..." Gal 5:22
Wake up to a brand new you!
Tomorrow, when you arise, look into the mirror with God's eyes - And see His Character reflecting back.
Dear Friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 John 1:2
Week 4"Halleluiah! It's Springtime!"
Spring is in the air! New life is right around the corner.
It's never too late to start!
With spring approaching, there is an excitement in the air. An awakening of events. Even the birds are chirping with anticipation.
Act 1, Scene I, the curtain is about to rise. The Easter and Passover season is on center stage. A celebration of restoration unfolds in this passion play. In our holistic approach to life, our wellness depends upon the completion of the Spiritual Aspect, so often neglected.
Think about this Which best describes your Spiritual life?
A Millstone
Yes, if your spiritual life is confined to a set of rules and rituals revolving around the traditions of man, than spirituality can be like a millstone around your neck.
A Milestone
But, like the person saved from a near fatal crash; the one rescued from the jaws of death; those having hit rock bottom at some point in time, then life takes on a whole new meaning. Crying out with all sincerity, and no time for pretense can bring us into a face-to-face encounter with the One Who's call is heard only in that time of seeking.
He (Jesus) was Supreme in the beginning, and leading the Resurrection Parade. He is Supreme in the end...Not only that, but all of the broken and dislocated pieces of the Universe people, and things, animals, and atoms get properly fixed and fit together in vibrant harmonies, all because of his death, His blood that poured down from the Cross. Col 1:15-20 (THE MESSAGE)
Make today a Milestone in your quest for Spiritual Wellness!
Dear Friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. 3 John 1:2
